As-cast tolerances don't cover every feature a design needs. We machine bores, threads, sealing surfaces, and other critical features directly after casting, on the same production floor.

    Fixture design

    Casting-specific fixtures are built to hold parts securely and repeatably for machining.

    Machining

    Features are cut to print tolerance using CNC equipment.

    Inspection

    Machined features are measured against the print before parts move to finishing or assembly.

Part design considerations

  • Machining stock/allowance must be planned into the casting design, not added after the fact
  • Fixture points should avoid cosmetic or functional surfaces where possible

DFM guidance

  • Identify which features are functionally critical during quoting so casting allowance and fixturing are planned together
  • Consider datum strategy early — how a part will be held for machining affects achievable tolerance

Quality controls

  • Dimensional inspection of machined features against the print
  • Documented inspection records available on request
